VERMILION SUNSET is one of the most incredible colors I have ever seen in the daylilies, indeed, until the day he opened the first flower, I do not remember ever having seen one in identical shades. The vermilion color is even more intense than in the pomegranate flower, as can be seen in photo 2.
To be honest when I made this crossing, my goal was another: I knew that Velvet Eyes had a very high hybrid potential and I hoped that the combination with the equally fantastic potential of Tetra Connie Burton, could have given me something of good. I hoped to get a flower in colors identical to the mother and shapes similar to the father but I did not imagine that all the ibriids would have orange colors so intense. Vermilion Sunset among all the seedlings was the one with a fluorescent effect enhanced to the maximum level and with the presence of a very green throat.
Fertile in both ways, it is an excellent parent to get orange colorsin different tones, sometimes with the fluorescent / bright component similar to the mother. The seedlings from Vermilion Sunset are easily distinguishable in a seed bed.
