GYPSY TRAVELER is a beautiful seedling from John Kinnebrew that I have evaluated in my garden for several years. I decide to introduce it because its several good qualities.
The color base flower is a bit variable from the temperatures from an almost mahogany (when the nights are cold in early season) to a burnt dark orange (when high temperatures nights). The eye is very dark and almost black. The brilliiant golden yellow throat is a wonderful adding of light and bright near the black eye. A very fine picotee border of the same color of the eye is another pretty touch to this flower. All the flower is velvet and shining, tall scapes and lot of buds. The flower opens always well, here.
EXTREMELY FERTILE both ways: its pollen set pods on every daylily, even on the very difficult pod setter and, if pollinated, set pods in about 90% of times with all the pollens.
As parent it tends to produce kids with eyed flower in a lot of warm colors but even self hot colors, double borders and so on, depending, of course from the cross you made..
Good vigor and increaser.
