Daylilies in the garden.

When I did start with my garden my dream was to see something of beautiful in every season of the year. I don't knew the modern daylilies but now I am sure to have in the garden a different show every day with those plants.

There are different ways of using the daylilies in the gardend; it depending from personal tastes, from type of garden and so on...

Some people give to the daylilies a secondary part so they are allow in the mixed border with a false casuality to give sporadical touch of colors between other plants.

In this case I think it is better to use cultivar not too much elaborate in form, prefering spider or unusual forms with colors of your taste including very vivid colors.

• If you want a large group of color it better use landscaping cultivars repeating more plant giving a strong color effect.
• If you consider daylilies as main part in the show (my favourite taste) use it in a large policrome groups, and use some companion plants (shrubs or perennials, ornamental grasses) to give structure, color and movements in the other season. You can play also with different heights, color and forms of different cultivars

There are several ways to associate cultivars, depending from personal tastes, I usually abbine cultivars with "eyes" but different shapes or different colors, or sometimes complementary colors or different tones of the same range of color .

I prefer to make some meter of abbined colors and then a strnge contars color to break the wiew and open another color scheme. Many modern daylilies have more of one color so it is easy to find some color in harmony with the neightbours. Sometimes picures don not give justice to companion colors. 

I find very interesting to add ornamental grasses in the background or into the mixed border as structural point, and to armonize difficult colors.

Sometimes very similar colors, especially self colors, seems to lost a lot of detail if planted in the same places, so it is bettter to put a lot of warning.

• Another option similar to the previous is the display garden when I try the new arrivals I made my crosses and visitors could see in better mode the plants.

• There is the last option, growiing in pots. This is always possible but it need care in daily irrigation especially during late spring and summer to have a good blooming.
